The archives of El Colectivo del Rescate Cultural hold a permanent collection of archival materials, documentation, ephemera, and objects covering 39 years of history, planning, and implementation of the San Francisco Day of the Dead Ritual Procession.
These archives are important in documenting the process of planning a unique event such as the Procession, as well as documenting who attended, what objects were used, and how the Procession had unfolded each year.
In 2020, we began processing, photographing, and cataloging these archives in order to share them with our community, scholars, and the public at large.
We are currently seeking volunteers to catalog this vast collection of media important to the history of the Ritual Procession, and the past 40 years of San Francisco Latino community history. If you are interested, please contact Juan Pablo Gutierrez.
